In 2010, Centrica Energy introduced the ‘CE Way’ in an attempt to embed its
vision and values across the business, following its transformation over the past
two years due to new acquisitions. CE employees were asked to get involved in
helping to define the values that best represented the business. Over the course of
the year, the feedback developed into the ‘CE Way’ which sets out the company’s
vision for how the business should be run, how employees are expected to act and
what the work experience should be like. The ‘CE Way’ emphasises three core
values: High Performance; Pioneering Spirit and Safety.
Staff engagement surveys across the Centrica business show that there is
perceived to be a strong link between employees’ performance and the success of
the business, with 86% of staff believing that their performance is important to the
success of Centrica. A lower proportion (73 per cent) believe that performance
management is a fair reflection of the work they do each day.
